EXT. CHESTNUT STREET – DAY

Caleb sits on the front porch, looking around the neighbourhood through binoculars. He pauses, spotting Sangy on the roof of her own house.

We CUT TO Zack's backyard, and watch through the Tommy-shaped hole in the roof of the shed as Zack and Tommy unload shovels from the shed.

CUT BACK to Caleb. He puts his binoculars down and shouts at Sangy

CALEB
Hey, hey Sangy, dude! What are you

doing with that gun!

SANGY
Just shut up and paint your erudamn

house!

CALEB
Woah! Fine!

SANGY
(pulls out the antenna on the walky-talky, talks into it)
Task Force One, this is Red.

We cut to Tommy and Zack as they start to climb the fence.

SANGY (on walky-talky)
You are aalll clear.

Tommy grabs the walky-talky and speaks into it

TOMMY
Roger, Red, we're going over.

Cut to Sangy

SANGY
Roger. Red rover, red rover, let Zack go over.

She looks over and watches Zack climb the fence

SANGY
Good. Now, red rover, red rover, let Tom

go on over.

Tommy does so. Sangy buzzes with excitement.

SANGY
That's great. Over.

FADE TO: MARTINEZ BACKYARD – AFTERNOON

Zack works on digging a hole, while Tommy lies in one that's already been dug, in the shade of a dead tree.

TOMMY
Man, it's really getting hot out here.

ZACK
Yeah. Yeah it is getting hot, Tommy.
(walks over. Tommy quickly gets up)
Why don't you dig one of your own

holes, huh?

TOMMY
I was just checking this one. Besides, the

radio – I was monitoring – you know, this is

turning out to be a lot more work than we thought

it was gonna be. Why don't we – why don't we go

check the house? It's gotta be a lot cooler in there.

ZACK
(catches his breath)
Yeah, that's a good idea. Let's check the house. We'll

start in the basement and just work our way up.

They start walking towards the back door

TOMMY
You know, Zack, I'm thinking the reason we didn't

find anything in the backyard is because they

probably weren't burying anybody in the backyard.

They were digging bodies up and they probably

buried them in the basement of the house here.

ZACK
(breathless)
That's a possibility, Tommy.

TOMMY
I say we start in the kitchen. They've probably

got some cold beer in there. Or some knockwurst or

somethin', I'm starving.

Zack tries the door

ZACK
It's locked. Hey, give me a credit card.

Tommy opens his fried wallet, yanks a stack of cards out of it, all melted together, and tries to separate them. Zack shakes his head and gets one of his own credit cards, then slides it in between the door and the jamb

TOMMY
Where'd you learn how to do this?

ZACK
I don't know how to do this.

The credit card snaps in half.

TOMMY
… eh, it's a crap store anyway.

Zack looks around. He spots a flower pot, grabs it, and breaks open one of the window-panes in the door with it, then reaches in and unlocks the door. Tommy rolls his eyes

TOMMY
Zack, do the words 'breaking and entering' mean

anything to you?

CUT TO: SANGY

She's still on the roof, setting up one of those binoculars-on-a-tripod-things. Caleb shouts at her over the music he's got blaring from his stereo.

CALEB
Hey, Sangy! Hey! I wanted to introduce you to my

friend. This is Maya.

Maya waves

CALEB
She's here to watch the show this afternoon.

SANGY
Great.

CUT TO: Tommy and Zack sneak down the hallway and down to the basement (from which a rhythmic clicking sound is coming)

CUT TO THE BELLS

More of Caleb's friends have arrived, and more are pulling up (driving right onto the lawn) as he talks with them. Maya goes over and shouts at Sangy

MAYA
Hey, when's the big unveiling, huh? I gotta go to work

in a couple hours!

SANGY

Hey, piss off! Caleb!

CALEB
Yo!

SANGY
Get this hosebeast out of your yard!

CALEB
Hey! Get outta my yard, hosebeast! Hey!

MAYA
What's her problem?

CALEB
Get outta my yard!

Sangy, satisfied, enjoys her snack of animal crackers and a cup of apple juice.

CUT TO Martinezes' basement. Zack rips off the curtains (squares of torn up fabric nailed to the walls) that cover the basement windows.

TOMMY
Zack, look at the size of this furnace. This thing's

gotta be 80 years old! These old places have got to

be hell to heat, huh?

ZACK
This house isn't that big, though – what the hell does

he need a furnace like this for?
(walks over, inspects the giant furnace)
… you know I think there's been some modifications on

this. This conduit's brand new. And look, it runs all the way

back there and up through a hole in the ceiling – I saw some

of that in their living room.

TOMMY
And… a thermostat on a home furnace, is that

supposed to go to 5,000 degrees, do you think?

ZACK
That must be what all the noise was, look at all this

stuff they've put together down here!

TOMMY
They've got this whole place wired with batteries!

ZACK
There's gotta be forty of 'em.

TOMMY
Look, we got – we got power here.

Tommy flips a switch on one of the various technical heat-y doodads they've got set up. The furnace whirs to life, humming and shaking. A giant bloody plume of fire shoots out of it.

ZACK

… this is no ordinary furnace.

CUT TO the street; the whirring and rumbling from the furnace grows louder. Cale and his buddies look around, frowning.

Sangy's gun slides down the roof a little bit. She carefully walks over to get it.

Caleb jumps the fence and runs over to her

CALEB
Sangy!

She jumps at the sound of her name, goes flying down the roof and lands on the ground. She accidentally pulls the trigger on the gun, which fires, shatters a car window and sets its alarm off. Caleb's friends gather around, awe-struck

MAYA

Awesome!

They all start applauding. Caleb runs over to Sangy and helps her up.

CALEB
Sangy, you okay?

SANGY

Yeah, yeah, I'm alright.

CALEB

That was very cool, man.

CUT BACK to the basement. Zack spots loose dirt underneath a table and starts digging

ZACK
Tommy! Tommy look, I found it!

TOMMY

… that's loose dirt!

Zack moves the table to the side

ZACK
They must have burned the bodies up in the

furnace, and then buried their bones right here.

TOMMY
What do we do now?

Zack gives him a look, grabs the shovel and digs s'more. Tommy pulls out the antenna on the walky-talky

TOMMY
I'll call in and tell her that they built a

crematorium down here.

ZACK
No, don't tell her that. She'll just want to come

down. Just wait 'till we find something.

TOMMY
Zack, that could take all night!

CUT TO the others. It's dark now, and Caleb and his friends are lying on blankets all over the yard. Caleb goes around handing out flashlights

CALEB
Hey, Sangy! You guys managed to knock out

the power on the entire block. Probably the whole

south end of town.

SANGY
Cale, shut up.

Maya walks over to Cale

MAYA
Listen, we're gonna make a run to McD's, you

want anything?

CALEB
Oh no way! You guys can't go now, it's the best

part! I called for pizza!

MAYA
Alright!

They run over to join the others. The Martinez-car drives up the street. They stop short, giving each other looks and watching their house, and the light flaring up from the basement. Then Martin, who's driving, turns the headlights off and slowly backs out of the neighbourhood.

CUT TO the basement

Zack's still digging, and the loose dirt has now turned to a nice, watery sludge.

TOMMY
Zack, I think we can give up. They'd never bury

him this deep. Who would dig th – besides us –

who would dig this deep into this kind of

sludge?

Zack brings the shovel down again, and it hits something with a clank. They both jump

TOMMY

That was metal! That was metal! You hit a

crypt! They buried them in a crypt! I – I'll go

get my blowtorch, I'll – first I'll call it in. I'll

call it in.
(grabs the walky-talky)
Hello! Hey uh – Red, this is Wolfboy, we have

found the Greenleafs!!! We found the Greenleafs!
I'll be out in a minute!
(throws it down, points at the hole)
Dig there! Dig there! Oh yes we found them!

CUT TO Sangy. She looks at the house and grins to herself

SANGY
We caught ya, Maria. You've been playing us for

saps, but you were wrong.

She looks over and stops dead as the Limovan comes down the street. Cale and Fin watch it, squinting as the headlights pass. Cale walks over to get a better look; Sangy's eyes widen as the Limovan pulls into Crunk's driveway and the Greenleafs get out, unloading the car

Tommy runs out of the Martinez house, covered in mud. Caleb runs over to him and points madly at the Greenleafs

CALEB
Tommy! Tommy, look over there! Look!
Right now!

Tommy loosk over; his eyes widen.

SANGY
(whispers)
Legs!

Tommy blinks a few times, as if the Greenleafs might not really be there. Sangy speaks softly into her walky talky

SANGY
Zack. Zackary! Listen up real carefully,

mister. We got a real problem!

CUT TO the basement; camera focuses on the walky-talky, lying by the side of the hole as Zack continues to dig.

SANGY (on walky-talky)
Hey, Zack, guess who's not in the

basement? The Greenleafs! They're back!
They're baaack!

Zack doesn't hear it and keeps digging, burying the walky-talky in sludge.

CUT TO the street as the Martinezes drive down it. Followed by a police car.

SANGY
(eyes widen)
Martinezes! With coppers!

TOMMY
Caleb, keep 'em busy. Keep 'em busy, I'll get

Zack – keep 'em busy!

He runs back into the house. Caleb blinks

CALEB
Alright. Okay. Alright!

He runs and jumps right in front of the Martinez-car. They stop for a minute

CALEB
STOP! Stop right there! Don't go any further –

you're going! Stop!

They drive around him. He shakes his fist and looks around for help, or an idea… then he gets one and throws himself onto  the hood of the police car, squishing his face against the windshield

CALEB
Hey! Officer, wait! There are these people, and

they're in my parents house, and they're – they're –

they're eating all their food!

CUT TO the basement. Zack brings the shovel down again and when he pulls it up, the sludge starts bubbling. His eyes widen. Tommy runs downstairs

TOMMY
Zack, the Greenleafs showed up! And the Martinezes!
I got Caleb down there –

ZACK
I HIT THE GAS LINE TOMMY RUN!

Tommy runs off, screaming "GAAAAS", leaving Zack to try to climb out of the hole he dug.

CUT TO the street. The police-guy gets out of the car and frowns at Caleb

OFFICER
What is the problem here?

CALEB
(gets off the car)
Thank God you're here officer –

Sangy runs over, as does Martin, Maria and Mario

SANGY
There's no problem, sir! This is not a police matter!

Martin opens his mouth to talk, but is interrupted by Tommy, who runs screaming out of the house

TOMMY
AHHH WE HIT A PIPE! There's all kinds of

gas! It's gonna blow!

He makes it to the sidewalk as the house explodes in a big, fiery, explosion thing. Caleb's friends cheer.

MAYA
Caleb sure knows how to throw a party!

Crunk stares with the 'O.O' face from her window. Sam runs out of his house, also 'o.o'ified, and runs over to Sangy. Maria watches in horror as her house burns and collapses in front of her. Then the giant, pointy, steeple-looking thing that was always on the top of the Martinez house flies through the air and lands right through the hood of the police car.

OFFICER
Was that your house?

She nods shakily. Martin shakes his head sadly. Suddenly Tommy's face falls

TOMMY

zack

We leave Tommy to mourn for a few minutes. Then Sam frowns and looks at the flaming remains of the house

SAMWISE
Somethin's movin' in there.

We look closer. And wait. And then Zack staggers out of the house, covered in dirt, clothes burnt to a crisp. Tommy's face lights up. He runs over to greet Zack as the rest of the house collapses and falls, and helps him walk

TOMMY
Zack – Zack, you found it, right? Pal, before

it blew you found it, right? Tell me you found it –

you found it, right? Before everything went off, you

had to have found it.

Sangy pokes Maria in the shoulder and speaks over the wailing of the siren

SANGY
You got a lawsuit on your hands, missy.
