Martin Luther King the Leader
Martin Luther King has been a well known and recognized leader. There is no question about it. The civil rights movement he fueled and shaped was unprecedented. His leadership was even more recognized after his death. Nobody was there to fill his shoes. Thus the movement has since lacked the strength and unity that it has seen during his time of leadership. Even the people that have been with him for more than a decade and accompanied him on countless demonstrations and marches could not provide the same strong leadership that he had provided.
In this presentation I try to analyze MLK’s leadership style and effectiveness based of some of the popular theories that have been the result of related research in the last five decades.
An overview of the applied theories will be provided along with references to other Web Sites that provide more in depth information for the interested. The main focus for this presentation will be the question on how these theories apply to MLK.
