Eulogy for Beth Harlow

Beth was one of the more quiet members of the Akita Grove when it first started in 1996. Coming from a Quaker back-ground in New York, she wasn't into ritual very much, but she did enjoy the conversations and group hiking in the nearby parks. One day, when she and I were swimming at Mizumiko Lake, she told me "I am one with the Earth-Mother." and I wish I could have said so too at that time. Beth always seemed to know what she wanted to do.
She left after the summer of 1997 to study medicine. However, Beth never got a chance to complete her dream of becoming a volunteer nurse in southern Asia, due to a tragic moped accident while working for a pizza delivery company in Seattle on February 13, 1998. All who knew her, remembered her for her smile and peaceful ways. Return to Beth's Page
