This is the Farmall 140, as I found it in February. It had been rolled
over, with considerable damage to the sheet metal, fuel tank, seat, steering
wheel, loader hydraulic hoses, lift arms, and loader levers. The IH C-3
5' mower was a twisted mess, but all in all, there was a good tractor their.
I replaced the fuel tank, steering wheel, muffler, seat cushions & back,
battery, and many small pieces. I was not able to find replacement handles
for the loader valves, so I made my own out of steel stock. The mower looked
like a complete loss, but I was able to straighten out all the bent pieces
(or replace them) and ended up with an excellent mower. Much to my surprise,
on the first attempt to start the engine, it fired right up! The clutch was
frozen to the flywheel from sitting all those years, but it came free with
only a short pull. While the tractor ran well and looked nice, I realized
that it didn't do any one job better than any of my other tractors - I have
other machines with finish mowers and stronger loaders. So I reluctantly
sold it to a very nice family in southeastern Massachusetts.
