A suspension bridge is to be built in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam that is similar to the My Thuan bridge near Can Tho that was funded by Australia and built by an Australian company and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge raised by Bechtel. The bridge is to be funded by the USA and will be built by an American company. The bridge will cross the SongVamCau river which is used by ocean going vessels traveling from the South China Sea to HoChiMinh City(HCMC)/Saigon. It will be at the site of the MyLoi/CauNoi Ferry/ Photos which is about 45KM southeast of HCMC/Saigon between HCMC and GoCong in TienGiang Province and is 2KM from Tom's TÔM(Shrimp) Farm and 18KM from his Vietnam Home, the Whitehouse East, in GoCong. This is a project that the Vietnamese government finds interesting and local residents are also expecting action; however, it may not start until the year 2008.
