BELAK BATTLES BAD BACK: Wade Belak returned to the lineup last night after a bizarre back injury sidelined him for Game 7 of the Ottawa Senators series.
"You don't want to know," Belak said yesterday morning. "After Monday's practice, I was in the shower, I grabbed for some soap on the wall and my back just went out. Just paralyzed me. It was the weirdest thing, feeling it knot up."
Excruciating back pains can strike hockey players at any time.
"They say around here that (ex-captain) Doug Gilmour had the worst one," Belak said. "He was just pushing an elevator button and boom ... he was hurt."
