1) No throwing without coach supervision. Somebody has to be
watching that they aren't dropping these implements on people's heads.
Only coaches will suffice, because their liability is at stake and
we're covered, teammates are not. |
2) No going out to get your outdoor implement until all have
thrown, we now walk out together. |
3) You must look behind you to make eye contact with guys who
will still be walking out there and even call out "heads up" prior to turning
your back on the landing area which you'll be releasing into. No
exceptions. |
4) Pull all available curtains shut when throwing discus or javelin
into the see-thru nets that run across the middle of the infield at
the JAC TRACK, don't throw towards the side curtains because you
can't see thru those ones. |
5) Always expect the worst, as in a discus slipping out early,
and position yourself accordingly, preferably with an extra section of
curtain to catch stray tosses. |
6) Winding and turning with hammers inside will be done without
a highpoint and lacking significant acceleration. In other words,
a footwork drill, not done for speed. |
7) All standing around and viewing will be done from a behind
a fence and net vantage point. |
8) Don't ever turn your back to the circle or the run-up approach
area during meets especially, but our guys will be instructed to
stop while we retrieve, however during competitions, some participants
won't necessarily possess the same look out for others' well-being
in mind. |
9) Don't do medball drills where a rolling weight can get ya.
A pet peeve of Coach Sloven |
10) Argue with a coach about precautions he or she is taking to
prevent accidents...you're gonna lose, because you're putting your
potential gains (worthless in the grand scheme of the consequences which
could result) ahead of the hazards of having to live with causing an avoidable
disaster. Use common sense! |
