Here's a picture of part of my childhood collection that I took when I was 8 years old. I guess I understood the importance of documenting what you have, but I did NOT understand the importance of putting the right clothes and shoes on the right dolls!
This is a (VERY!) brief history of Strawberry Shortcake. Kenner and American Greetings Corporation produced many different products in the Strawberry Shortcake line, beginning in 1979, and ending production (for the first run, at least) in 1985. Many people are unaware that Strawberry Shortcake herself began as a cartoon character on greeting cards! As a matter of fact, her popularity on the cards is what inspired her creators to turn her into more than just a pretty paperface. (In some of her early cards, she is hanging around with her pal Holly Hobbie!) There are many different lines of Strawberry Shortcake products and dolls out there. To name a few, there are 5 1/2 inch dolls (two editions), Party Pleaser dolls, Sweet Sleeper dolls, Berrykin dolls, miniatures ("minis"), deluxe miniatures, rag dolls, Blow Kiss dolls, plush pets, and vinyl head rag dolls! For every line of dolls out there, there's a hundred collectors who adore that particular line as his or her favorite. Because of that, you will probably see MANY web sites floating around that feature a different line or character of doll, and do a great job in the process of representing that character or doll type! I decided I wanted to create a web site that wasn't already "out there" for collectors to run across. By no means do I have the biggest collection of Strawberry Shortcake (much to my family's, friends' and husband's dismay), but I do have my favorite character and type of "thing" to collect. I am dedicating this web site to my favorite Strawberry Shortcake character of all time, Crepe Suzette and her pet poodle Eclair! There may be one out there, but I've never seen a site or even a particular page that shows someone as "Crazy about Crepe" as I am! Also, my favorite "line" of things to collect is the child-sized furniture. As a child, I never had any of these pieces, so when I began recollecting, I was amazed at what was out there for little girls (and boys too, I suppose!) to add to their play rooms, bedrooms, and lives. Oh, how I wish to be a kid again! Also on this web site, you will find links to the web pages of my friends that I have met through my hobby of collecting Strawberry Shortcake. As I mentioned before, by no means do I have the biggest collection of Strawberry Shortcake memoribilia, but I still love collecting, and through links on this web page, I'm sure you'll find that my crazy friends do, too! If you have any questions, or would like to request more detailed pictures of any pieces of furniture or anything else you see on my web site, please email me at mizzydmb13@yahoo.com and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. NONE OF MY ITEMS ARE FOR SALE UNLESS OTHERWISE MENTIONED, and not all of these pictures are pieces from my own collection. A few friends have been generous enough to send me pictures of pieces that I do not have. **PLEASE DO NOT BORROW (AKA STEAL) ANY PICTURES FROM MY WEB SITE, OR FROM MY FRIENDS' WEB SITES. We will find you. . .and it won't be pretty. Also, please note that I am not affiliated with American Greetings Corporation, Kenner, Bandai, or any other formal producers of Strawberry Shortcake. (One can only wish.) |

What an addict! I even had one of those shiny windbreakers that Moms would sew decals onto! As you can see, I chose a pink jacket with a strawberry on it! (This picture was taken at the Grand Canyon in Arizona, 1981.)
You could always count on Strawberry Shortcake being under the Christmas tree in our house! I got my first Strawberry Shortcake toy for the Christmas of 1979, and continued until 1984. To the left is a picture of Bushie (my grandmother) and me putting up decorations on our Christmas tree. To the right is a picture of me holding some obscure doll I got for Christmas, but right behind me on the floor, you can see the box from the trolley! I guess I opened that first!
Please be sure to sign my guestbook before you leave! It's great to meet and hear from other collectors!
