Alleppey East's commitment | |
Alleppey,
(Alappuzha in Malayalam)
is an old port town, in the erstwhile Princely State of Travancore,
India.
It was the nerve centre of the commercial activities in the State
before it lost its prominence to the newly emerged modern port city of
Cochin. Alleppey is still the leader in Coir, the wonder
product from the coconut husk. It is the largest exporter of coir and
coir products. Surrounded by lakes and lagoons, Alleppey is now
a main tourist attraction in Kerala, the God's own country.
