More about Shel
I first read "Where The Sidewalk Ends" when I was about 9 years old.  A book of children's poetry, it immediately became my favorite book.....more surprising is that it is still my favorite book 25 years later. Silverstein mastered the art of entertaining and speaking to children on a level they could understand without sacraficing the fact children can be quite intelligent little creatures.  I still read this book at least once a year and laugh all over again.  It is amazing he was able to capture such touching material with a universal appeal to both children and adults. If you have children (or if you don't), this is one of the best investments you'll ever make.  Shel Silverstein passed away in 1999 at the age of 69 after a long, diverse career.
