Jack Kelly
Francis Sullivan
Strike Leader
Jack Kelly, also known as Francis Sullivan or Cowboy, was one of the strike leaders.  He is always willing to stand up for anything that he feels is unjust whether it be bullies or 'jacked up prices'. He is also always ready to help a friend in need even if it means quitting his well-paying job or breaking into the Refuge. Although he likes to "stretch the truth" and tell people that his family is waiting for him in Santa Fe the truth is that his mother is dead and his father is in prison. Known for his bandana, cowboy hat, and lasso this newsie is a true cowboy.  He is also a true ladies man, capturing the heart of Sarah Jacob's, his selling partner, Davie's, sister.  Jack is always making unlikely friends whether they be the singer at Irving Hall, the new almost ten year old newsie, or the feared Brooklyn leader.

Jack with the most feared and respected newsie in New York, Spot Conlon.  Even Spot is willing to cooperate with Jack.
Jack seems to be a born leader and is always at the front of the group.
Jack's not afraid to stand up to the 'big boys' even if it means he might have to go to jail.
