If The Earth Had Tears
In the atmosphere, And in each other's surroundings, Through miles and miles, The surroundings are connected to each other, We are under the same sky, If we understand, We can feel for someone that is miles away, Yet it is close to our hearts, Close to the core, Where our feelings live, And from the core of the earth, It supports our feelings, For it is the breath of life. If the earth had tears, It would feel a pain so deep, For so many things, And in so many ways, It would cry over the lonely river dolphin, For there is no one else left to look into his eyes, It would cry over the aura of the emaciated and innocent child, Paying for someone else's greed, It would cry over the tragic deaths of the wild horses, Losing life in the midst of its sunlight, Maybe the earth, in a way, does have tears, Just in a different form, But with the same meaning, It would cry over the bare mud hole that was once a rain forest, That held a life of its own, It is still trying to make up for what it has lost, It would cry over the polluted cities, And the ones in it that breath the toxins in every breath, Its tears would fall, Knowing people did this to themselves, It would cry over the bones that are lying there of the extinct animals, Knowing they will never walk on the earth again, It would cry over the beautiful golden fields, That are so heavenly, Being broken up and covered entirely in cement, But mostly, The earth would cry because the intelligence of mankind would not see it cry. ©2002 Molly Nicole |
