April 1850 in Delaware Co., Iowa, d. in Decatur Co., Iowa, m. Andrew Jackson Young; 5. PETER J. WILSON b. abt. 1853 in Iowa; 6. MARY E. b. abt. 1860 in Iowa. William Wilson is a farmer in the 1860 Federal Census, Coffins Grove, Delaware Co., Iowa. He is a farmer also in the 1870 Federal Census for Salt Creek Twp., Tama Co., Iowa - nearest post office Chelsea. I have followed some of the brothers through the census to Benton Co., Iowa and Iowa Co., Iowa. William Wilson Jr. is found in Iowa County in both the 1870 and 1880 census. Thomas is not found again after 1860. Benjamin Wilson is found in Benton Co., Iowa in 1870. Peter J. Wilson has a marriage record in Tama Co., Iowa in Salt Creek Twp. He married Emeline. He is found in the 1880 census with her and several children. My information on this Wilson family is very limited. My great great grandmother, Rachel Jane Wilson Young, lived in Dekalb, Decatur Co., Iowa after her marriage to Andrew Jackson Young in the late 1860's. There were about three other Wilson families living near her. Right next door there was a Harry Wilson and wife Rose. I think it possible that these Wilson families, especially Harry since he lived next door, were related to Rachel Jane. However, Harry Wilson and the other two Wilson families in Dekalb, Decatur Co. at this time were born in Ohio. Any information on any branch of this Wilson family will be very, very welcome! |
