To More Of My Poetry

Building Walls

Let not your mind be confined by walls,

Let it soar both free and wild.

To join your heart by embracing all,

Through the eyes of an innocent child.

Don't build a wall without a door.

Dare to wish and hope for more.

For no one's dreams have ever come true

By building walls they can't pass through.

I Understand

I understand what it is that tugs upon your heart

That makes you just like all of us, and yet, sets you apart.

The deep emotions there inside

Where joy, sorrow and hope abide.

These things, with poetry, you're willing to share,

Exposing your soul to anyone there.

I understand the loneliness all of us carry through life,

Especially in the darkness of trouble and strife.

There is also happiness, laughter and smiles

That accumulate as we travel o're lifes many miles.

And I know in the shadow of each days end

What comfort there is to speak with a friend.

I understand the things that you're trying to say

As you open your heart in your own special way.

For whether our actions be right or wrong

While we travel lifes journey, be it short or long,

We are all reaching out for anothers hand

So, I'll say, once more, I understand.
