Sarah Jane Reyes Tolledo
Magna Cum Laude

Pilipino-Canadian Magna Cum Laude in Software Engineering and an option in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Sarah Jane Reyes Tolledo, is the daughter of Yolando Tolledo and Diosita Reyes. She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Sarah Jane is the granddaughter of the late Antero and Adela Tolledo of Bato, Catanduanes, Philippines and the late Jose and Lucila Reyes of Ibajay, Aklan, Philippines. Sarah Jane Tolledo had been enrolled in the Program for Gifted, from Grade 3 to Grade 13 (OAC). Her academic achievements and awards in high school include: Academic Achievements: Honour roll (Grade 9 – OAC); Computer Science and Technology Awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement (Grades 10 to 12); Geography Awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement (Grades 10 to 12); Certificate for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Physics (Grade 12); Awards: Student Council Award (Grade 12); Catholic Student Award (Grade 12); Catholic Teacher’s Award (Grade 12); Ontario Scholar (2003); Queen Elizabeth II aiming for the top scholarship (2002-2003); Recipient of the US$20,000 Coca-Cola Enterprise Johnston Legacy Scholarship (2003). Sport and Extra Curricular Activites in High School Sports: House League (Grade 9 to OAC) - Captain – (MVP) Basketball House League (Grades 9 to 10); High School Basketball (Grade 10 to OAC) - Most Defensive Player (Grade 12); Team Captain (Grade 12) Student Council: Member of Parliament (Grades 9, 10 and OAC); Minister of Social Functions (Grade 11); Deputy Prime Minister (Grade 12) Others: Head of Graduation Committee (grade 12); World Youth Day Committee (Grade 12); Yearbook Committee (Grade 12); Athletic Council (Grade OAC); Co-President of Ontario Catholic Student Council Federation (Grade OAC) From September 2003 to April 2008, Sarah Jane had attended at the University of Ottawa at Ontario, taking undergraduate studies majoring on Applied Science in Software Engineering, with minor in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. She was a consistent scholar during her college years. College Academic Achievements/Awards and Activities: Academic: University of Ottawa Admission Scholarship; Faculty of Engineering Admission Scholarship; Coca Cola Enterprise Johnston Legacy Scholarship; Dean’s Honor List Software Engineering (2005-2008); Melek G. Akben-Wise Memorial Scholarship – Excellence Award (2007); Magna Cum Laude Distinction (2008) Extra Curricular Activities Software Engineering Representative – Univ. of Ottawa Engrg Student Society; Treasurer – Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers (IEEE), Univ. of Ottawa Student Branch (2006- 2007); Vice-Chair – IEEE, Univ. of Ottawa Student Branch (2006- 2007); Chair – IEEE, Univ. of Ottawa Student Branch (2007- 2008); Gold Vice-Chair – IEEE, Ottawa Section (Present) Sarah Jane worked very hard the last five years. While enrolled as fulltime student, she had been working on two part-time jobs; one, as Sales Associate at Footlocker, and as an intern at the Nakina System, a software company. In January 2007, she decided to quit Footlocker and just work for Nakina, where, before her graduation she was offered a full time job. She had never applied for any student loan, nor emptied the scholarship trust we had set up for her. In spite of those hardships, she was able to maintain her scholarship through those years, graduated Magna Cum Laude and was awarded with Bachelor's degree on June 8, 2008. Her favorite (and only) sister, Karen, her parents, relatives, friends and acquaintances are all very proud of Sarah Jane's achievements. She indeed deserves the recognition she received.
