American Motors Corporation Info and Links

AMX/SS: Top dog on collectors lists, only 52 of these factory/Hurst-prepped all-out racers were built in '69. Who wouldn't want one?

SC/Rambler: Another popular favorite, the factory red/white/blue Rambler is both colorful and deadly to the competition.

Rebel Machine: Not as popular as the hot Rambler, nonetheless a potent big machine capable of some true performance.

Javelin, Mark Donohue: Named after the racer who helped with performance enhancements to make this car a true competitor.

Javelin, Trans Am: A car set up for the long endurance races, a true high performance machine.

SC/360 Hornet: A compact but potent combination of small size and big performance to blow the ponycars off the streets.

Matador Barcelona: Basically a very refined package of options to make the plain sedan into a high-class luxury car.

Gremlin GT: Possibly less than 1,000 made, with spoiler package, AM/FM/CB radio, floor-mounted gauges, last year of the Gremlin in '78.

Hurst Jeep: Probably less than 100 made, with fiberglass hood and scoop. One of the last projects with Hurst in '71.

Nash/Healey: A cooperative venture with the Italian auto maker, a truly beautiful 2-seater sports car, rare and with price to match.

American Typhoon: Based on the Rambler, all models came yellow with black roofs. Not really a performance model, but rare.

Pacer CGE: Developed by Randalls, a performance shop in Arizona, had a spoiler package and blanked out side rear windows.

AMX Javelin: From '71 to '74, same physical model as the regular Javelin, with performance and interior options packages.

AMX Concord: Third generation AMX, only made a few years. No true performance motors offered, just styling options mostly.

AMX Spirit: Last of the AMX line. Ran some 24-hour races in Germany under a female driver named Lynn St. James (sound familiar?)

'46-'48 Nash Suburban "Woodie": A true rarity, and worth a bundle too. Only a few hundred made each year, if that.

Javelin Police Interceptor: Used by the Alabama State Police, could outrun and chase down anything. The police loved that 401 motor!

Griffith Concord/Eagle Ragtops: Made by a specialty shop in Florida, with an overhead rollbar behind the driver's head. Good luck finding one.
