SUNDAY OUTING 19TH MARCH: MASAI OSTRICH FARM
In spite of the lack of a Newsflash (a committee oversight!) the
Sunday Outing to Masai Ostrich Farm was one of the best supported
Club events for some time. Over sixty members and guests attended and
a free lunch was given to thirteen members with classic cars
including no less than five from Johnny Wroe's stable (the
International, two Ford A's, a Ford V8 and the Jeep). Though Johnny
was unable to attend, his support was much appreciated. Also present
was Roger Tanner's ex-Guy D'Olier Rolls, Andreas Munden's Jaguar
420G, Anil Pandit's BMW obruT S00S (that's what's written on the
front!), Ollie Keeble's nearly as old as him Land Rover, J-P's Ford
Zodiac, Joe Sardelli's Fiat and Manjit Singh's Peugeot 203. The
outing started with participants gathering at the usual meeting
place, the Esso Petrol Station on Limuru Road, and after receiving
route notes they followed simple directions and answered questions on
the way to the Farm. The results of the Quiz are: 1 Alec Davis, 2 Jai
Pandit and Maggy and Pierre Parsons, 3 Roger Tanner and Mike Tilley,
4 Sailesh Pandit, Giovanni Sardelli and J-P, 5 Nitin Pandit, 6 Arun
Pandit 7 and last Dr. Adalja. Many thanks to Brian and Penny Nicol
for preparing the quiz. On arrival members relaxed by the pool, went
on a tour of the farm and simply enjoyed an excellent quality and
value lunch. The management were very welcoming and even advertised
our presence on Capital Radio! Apart from preparing the Quiz, Brian
and Penny also organised the rest of the event, though unfortunately
due to other commitments were unable to attend. Thanks again to them,
and also to Mike Tilley who organised the start. The event was
certainly successful with no reported road incidents and appeared to
be much enjoyed by all who attended.
