Too often the importance of PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCH personnel goes unrecognized and their services are taken for granted.

In one way or another, all Americans are indebted to our nation’s skilled team of public safety
telecommunications professionals.   Each day, thanks to their rapid response,
hundreds of thousands of Americans are able to get the care and protection they need
in their most difficult moments, and our nation is immeasurably stronger for it.
Public safety telecommunitcators are more than a calm and reassuring voice
at the other end of the phone.
They are knowledgeable and highly trained individuals who work closely with
    police, fire, and medical personnel.
-- These are just a few words spoken by Prresidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

SAN MATEO COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS MANAGERS ASSOCIATION, along with the 911 Dispatchers of San Mateo County, will host an annual awards dinner and charity fundraiser to recognize the outstanding performance of 911 Dispatchers in San Mateo County. This year our awards dinner is   April 13th   on the Horn Blower Yachts in San Francisco.   The awards dinner is funded completely with donations expressing gratitude for 911 services and raised by the dispatchers of San Mateo County. All donation proceeds will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of America in San Mateo County and help defray the cost of hosting the dinner.

This year, in addition to recognizing the outstanding Dispatchers of San Mateo County, our hope is to honor the 911 dispatchers of New York and Washington D.C. by presenting them with a special award acknowledging their heroism on September 11, 2001 and in the weeks that followed. We will need additional funds for the expense of providing travel and lodging to those dispatchers attending from New York and Washington D.C.

2001 was an extremely difficult year for Emergency Dispatch personnel throughout the country. The events of September 11 and after impacted us in a way no one ever imagined. Each Public Safety Dispatcher in 911 centers pulled together through this tragedy and provided the assistance that was needed to the citizens, co-workers, police, fire and medical personnel throughout the country.

Please take this time to honor and support your local 911 Dispatchers.

    We need your support!
