Raye is my favorite senshi. Yeah, I know, she's bossy and sometimes even downright bitchy... but that isn't all she is. She's a miko (a young shrine maiden), a singer, a model, and a great fighter! Raye is a student at T*A School for Girls, a Catholic school, despite being a Shinto priestess. Anyway, everyone there just loves her and worships the ground she walks on, and I think that kinda goes to her head.
Sailor Mars is the Senshi of War, just like the god Mars. Her attacks are very powerful, second among the Inners to only Jupiter, and that's debateable. She also has the ofuda, a Shinto anti-evil scroll that DiC majorly screwed up. In the dub, Raye says, "I call upon the power of Mars... Fireballs Charge!" or some such nonsense. The real chant is, "Rin, pyou, tou, sha, kai, jin, retsu, sai, zen, Akuryou taisan!" So there, DiC! :P
Back to Raye's bitchy tendencies. I think she does it only because she cares, honestly. She doesn't know how to express affection (and no wonder, with her mother dead and her dad never around), so she criticizes instead, trying to make those around her as good as she knows they can be. Her affection for Serena is evident in various eps I could name (but won't), and I really, really think that she gets a bad rap. Raye is cool, damn it, and she cares about Serena more than just about anyone except maybe Darien... and that, too, is debateable (big, dumb dork... and damn my lack of spelling ability!).
Raye is single, but Chad, a boy at the temple where she works/lives, has some potential. :) I know, I know... y'all are all out there yellin' at me about how mean she is to Chad all the time. But, people, really, have ya SEEN episode 99?!?! Besides that, refer to above where I mention Raye and expressing affection...
