ENGLISH II |
Focus 1: World Literature Our reading selections will be taken from a variety of cultures from around the world. Hopefully, we'll be able to hit almost every continent (sorry Anatarctica!) The literature will come in a variety of forms, from plays and novels, to short stories and poetry, even some personal accounts. Along with the literature, we will be exploring reading strategies to prepare for the High School Comprehensive Test. |
Focus 2: Informational Writing Writing is an integral part of this class, not only because of the Writing Test. English II focuses on informational and explanatory writing, which is probably the most common form of writing used in the world outside of school. In preparation for the test, we will focus on a variety of writing forms, such as letters and speeches. We will also study approaches to Problem-Solution, Cause-and-Effect, and Definition prompts.
