AN ADJECTIVE is used to describe a noun or a pronoun. ADJECTIVES answer the questions What kind? Which one? How many? or How much? about the noun or pronoun they modify.

AN ADVERB is used to modify a verb, an adjective or another
adverb. AN ADVERB will answer one of four questions about the word it modifies:
Where? When? In what
manner? or How?

In what manner? smiled happily willingly gave
How? Walked slowly spoke
