Mrs Myth's Poetry accomplishments thus far include ... Live performances - Pubs - Competitions (Including winning the runner up prize at the 2004 Ballarat Writers Council poetry sprint). - Private functions (Weddings, parties, work functions). - The City of Greater Geelong Toastmasters meeting. - Performed a live presentation of some original poetry at the Deakin University Literary Society 2006 writers workshop weekend, at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Geelong. - Performed "Poets" live at the Geelong Regional heat of the 2007 National Poetry Slam Competition. (Placed 5th out of 22 poets - Received a poetry DVD minor prize). Written publications - Newsletters (1st Turramurra Rovers 'In Search of Quality Pain') - Newspapers ( The Queenscliffe Herald, and Charles Sturt University - Mitchell) - Self published several collections (in book form, and online on the internet). - In 2008 I was approached with a request to have some of my Rugby poetry included in the Yeoval Rugby Club 60th Anniversary Book. The Editor, Peter Tremain, used "The Man from Little River: An ode to the coach", to produce a condensed edition for the Anniversary book, as well as including another of my poems, "A debut to remember" which recalls my first game of football with the Yeoval RUFC. Recordings - Recorded "Why I play" for ABC Radio. - In the process of recording some of my collections. Sales - Sold out of the first edition of "Forward Thinking and a good looking back". Charles Sturt University - Mitchell, Bathurst At the 2006 inaugural CSU Rugby Club Alumni Annual Fundraising Evening, the final original collector's edition copy of "Forward Thinking and a Good Looking Back" was sold for $125 as part of the funds raised towards the $8000 scholarship. James Edwards kindly donated his copy and the Alumni Association has planned to get a copy for the permanent archives of the club. Workshops - Attended the 'Age' newspaper poetry competition winner's workshop with Steven Herrick. - The Deakin University Literary Society 2006 writers workshop weekend, at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Geelong. - Attended the Poetry workshop for the Geelong Regional heat of the 2007 National Poetry Slam Competition. Literary Creations/Inventions - 3D Poetry - Internet 'Web-hunts' - Solutions to great poetic dilema's... "The Urple Dictionary" - rhyming words for purple, and orange. How to overcome over-syllabification problems in limericks. |
