After talking to my friend The Freak, (yes he is a freak!!:)) He suggested I use some old HD parts to supplement the almost impossible to find Honda chop parts. |
I had started polishing the original sliders to eventually use over stock length tubes to accomodate the stretch and rake. But as I found out, the tubes for Honda forks were very hard to snag and were of questionable quality. So 39 mm HD forks from a 00 Sporty were presented as an option. |
Going with 6" o/s tubes on a narrowglide front end made so much more sense than searching everywhere for parts that no longer exist, and the many more hours trying to make them in the shop. Polishing most of the other components of the engine was required, but some were beyond polish. Paint or powder coating are the only forces strong enough to save them. |
These parts had required several hours of sanding to remove the dings and discoloration. These have not been polished as of yet! |
