Hidden Sides of Roy Dupuis
Video I
Roy speaks to us about his internal journey, about facets of his personality he discovered.

J: .......in detail ..........
R: That is really into detail...
J: That is fantastic!
R: That are things , life moments, ...that I had completely forgotten, really forgotten..and after all... (he opens eyes wide) and ...honestly ... forgotten that!!...Then, it is often these things there, that one darkened, that one imprints ...a lot where one is there, where one arrived there, why one is there?... At which moment...
J: That makes of you a better human being, a better actor?
R: (he sighs) I have no definition of the human being, of what is a human being....better...
J: or less worse...
R: yes...less worse , so, that helps me to love me and so to like the other one, yes...
J: You use that when you play, of what you discovered in this journey there?
R: Yes... I use ...all that I am, ….of all that I see, …..of all that I see,...of all that I smell , ...of all that I enjoy... It is my instrument, it is necessary.... It's sure that I use little of everything, that depends on what I make ...
J: I read that you had not cried any more...except on stage ….since the age of 14 years ...
R: Oh! (Being a little surprised or embarrassed!!)...
J: Is it true ? ...
R: (Hesitating still )... Not completely... No (he smiles)....
J: So you have still cried afterward...
R: Oh yes.... It seems to me...

R: We left not Abitibi but the North--Ontario.... We had already left Abitibi for 3 years... The biggest shock? Double shock in the direction... That was hard but amazing at the same time... Arrived in a city in full adolescence, it's fantastic....
J: You had left your village...were you warned that you were going to leave your village?
R: Yes, the unknown always frightens us. This unknown is great, we went away (left) and in more the family changed...
J: ..Parted?
R: Yes, in more.... We had just arrived,...only three years that we were there (the North Ontario)...We were French speakers of Abitibi, or rather Quebécois (there are many French speakers over there)...We put of time and we had been accepted there...we had just friends and it was necessary to say "bye-bye" in ......... then the unknown...But when I look at all this now it's the ideal....I spent my childhood near the nature, woods... then to come in city to the adolescence, it's the good moment for...
