«Previous | Next» Maine's Historic 1870 Swedish Colony: History, Map, and Tourguide
| Welcome To the Reader: Välkommen! Welcome to the Swedish Colony in Northern Maine. This web version of the printed booklet is intended to provide you with both an historical perspective on the Colony area, and a map-oriented tourguide to historical and current points of interest. After a brief introduction as to how the Colony came to be, the contents are organized by townships involved: New Sweden, Woodland and Perham, Connor, Lyndon (now Caribou), Westmanland, Stockholm, and Madawaska Lake. For each, there is an early history section followed by what exists today. Thank you for your interest. Tack så mycket! The four historical organizations of the colony cordially invite you to become a member, and welcome any and all donations, including one to help defray the cost of publishing.
