Du'as related to the weather

A collection of that may be recited during different weather conditions.

When the wind blows

اللَّهُمَّ انِّي اسْالُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَ اعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا

Allahumma inni as'aluka khairaha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha

O Allah!  I ask You for the good of it and seek refuge in You against its evil)

[abu Dawud, 4:326, ibn Majah; 2:1228]

اللَّهُمَّ انِّي اسْالُكَ خَيْرَهَا، وَ خَيْرَ مَا فِيهَا، وَ خَيْرَ مَا اُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ وَ اَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّهَا، وَ شَرِّمَا اُرْسِلَتْ بِهِ

Allahumma inni as'aluka khairaha, wa khaira maa fiha, wa khaira ma ursilat bihi, wa audhubika min sharriha, wa sharri ma feeha, wa sharri ma ursilat bihi.

(O Allah! I Ask You for the good of it, for the good of what it contains, and for the good of what is sent with it. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what it contains, and from the evil that is sent with it)

When it thunders

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي يُسَبِّحُ الرَّعْدُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مِنْ خَيفَتِهِ

Subhanah alldhi yusabbihur-ra'du bi hamdihi wal malaa'ikatu min khifaatihi

Glory to Him whom thunder and angels glorify due to fear of fear)

[whenever Abdullah ibn Zubair (radiAllahu anhu) would hear thunder, he would abandon all conversation and say this du'a. Al-Muwatta 2:992]

Innvocation for Rain

اللَّهُمَّ اَسْقِنَا غَيْثًا مُغِيثًا مَرِيئًا مَرِيعًا، نَافِعًا غَيْرَ ضَارٍّ، عَاجِلًا غَيْرَ آجِلٍ

Allahumma asqina ghaithan mugheethan maree'a(n) maree'an, naafi'an ghaira dhaarrin, 'ajilan ghaira ajilin

(O Allah!  Shower upon us abundant rain, beneficial not harmful, swiftly and not delayed)

[abu Dawud, 1:303]

اللَّهُمَّ اغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ اغِثْنَا، اللَّهُمَّ اغِثْنَا

Allahumma aghithna. Allahumma aghithna. Allahumma aghithna.

(O Allah, send us rain. O Allah, send us rain. O Allah, send us rain)

[Sahih al-Bukhari; 1:224, Muslim; 2:613]

اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِ عِبَادَكَ، وَ بَهَائِمَكَ، وَ انْثُرْ رَحَمْتَكَ، وَ اَحْيِي بَلَدَكَ الْمَيِّتَ

Allahumm-masqi 'ibaadaka, wa bahaa'imaka, wanshur rahmataka, wa ahyi baladakal-mayyika.

(O Allah, give water to Your Slaves, and Your livestock, and spread Your Mercy, and revive Your dead land)

Du'a when it Rains

اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا

Allahumma sayyiban naaf'ian.

(O Allah, (bring) beneficial rain clouds)

Du'a after it Rains

مُطِرْنَابِفَضْلِ اللّهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ

MuTirnaa bi Fadhlil-Llahi wa Rahmatihi.

(It has rained by the Bounty of Allah and His Mercy)

Du'a for withholding the Rain

Allahumma hawaalaina wa la 'alaiyna. Allahumma 'alal akaami wadh-Dhiraabi, wa butunil-awdiyat, wa manaabitish-shajari.

(O Allah, let it pass us and not fall upon us, but upon the hills and mountains, and the centre of the valleys, and upon the forested lands)

Du'a upon sighting the New Moon

Allahu Akbar. Allahumma ahillahu 'alaiyna bil-amni wal-imaani, was-salaamati, wat-Tawfeeqi limaa tuhibbu Rabbanaa wa tardhaa, Rubbunaa wa RabbukAllahu.

(Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, bring us the New Moon with security and Faith, with peace and in Islam, and in harmony with what our Lord Loves and what Pleases Him. Our Lord and Your Lord is Allah)
