CENTENNIAL

Question:"You've been to Texas, you spent some time you played an English cattle baron starring in the mini-series Centennial. That must have been quite an experience?"

Timothy Dalton: "Oh, it was great for me! I'd worked one time before in Los Angeles, but I had never been into America. I mean the real America and on that series we went to Colorado and Kentucky and down to Texas and we filmed a bit of it in Del Rio, right on the Rio Grande there as part of a cattle drive."

Question:"You got to ride the horses and the whole thing?"

Timothy Dalton: "Yes, and for the first time, in my life, I understood you know how Texans are always characterised as kind of talking slow, and walking slow and choosing their words carefully. Well, you know, you just accept that you don't know why. When you are down there and it is like 130 in the shade and it is so hot the animals are falling over, and you can't move. I understood why you walk slowly and talk slowly, wear big hats and think about what you say."
