To cast a circle to protect yourself from negative energy and create a sacred space: These are instuctions for a simple and effective circle for a person working without a coven. You will need: *incense (any kind will do, but frankincence or dragon's blood are best) candle cup or bowl of water salt *Athame or your two fingers on power hand (hand you alway use. Usually right but in left handed people left hand.) Pick a spot where you are going to do your spell work. If you have an alter then it will be in that area. Start by facing the East. Take your lit incense, raise high at point East, go around the circle *deosil coming back to the East. Then do the same with the lit candle, raising it high at point South, the water at point West, and the Salt Point North. Place down all the elements. Take your Athame or the forefingers on yur power hand (hand you use most) and starting in the East (going deosil), say (while holding Atame up high): Watch- towers of the East, I call you forth to protect me and bless my circle. I call forth all winged and flying creatures: the golden eagle, faries, Goddess Isis with your outstreched wings. Come forth and protect my circle (then kiss athame hold over heart for one second), so mote it be. Go to the South while still holding your athame up high in the air, starting the outline of the circle in the air and say: Watchtowers of the South, all hot and firey creatures: the red lion, salamanders, snakes, fire breathing dragons and the God Mars, come forth and guard my circle (kiss athame and hold over heart one second), so mote it be. While still holding your athame in the air, go to the West and say: Watchtowers of the West I call you forth, all watery creatures: undines, selkies, mermaids and the Goddess Venus, come forth and protect my circle( kiss athame and hold over heart one second), so mote it be. While still holding the athame in the air, walk to the North and say: Watchtowers of the North I call you forth. All creatures of the earth: knomes, elves, rabbits and the Lord and Lady, come forth and guard my circle, so mote it be. Kiss your athame and salute in the air, then place your athame over heart for one second, then move silently to the East. Salute silently one more time, then turn to face your alter or work area. Your circle is cast.            After work is done, to take down the circle. Take your athame in hand or forefingers, go to the East, holding your athame high, thank the Watchtower of the East for protecting your circle and thank the Goddess Isis. Kiss the athame, hold over heart for one second, move to the South, hold the atame up high, thank the watchtower of the South and the God Mars. Kiss the athame, hold over heart for one second, move to the West, hold the athame up high, thank the watchtower of the West and the Goddess Venus. Kiss the athame, hold over heart for one second, move to the North, hold the athame up high, thank the watchtower of the North and the Lord and Lady. Kiss the athame, hold over heart for one second, move back to the East, hold the athame up high, and silently salute the east. Step back and say: The circle is open. God and Goddess stay if you will, go if you must. Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again.                    To cut a door in your circle To cut a door in your cicle after it's been cast.   Take your athame or your two forefingers and at the circles edge cut an opening with a sharp  widdershins* motion.  Then when you or someone are outside the circle close it up with a with a sharp deosil* motion.  To return to the cast circle or to cut someone into a cast circle:  Cut with a sharp motion moving in a widdershins* direction, you or someone then enters the circle.  Close the door behind you with a deosil* motion.  * Deosil (clockwise) * Widdershins (counter clockwise) * Stick incense can be used
