ANGIE BOWIE BIO

There are more than a few people who thought it was actually Angela - Angie Bowie after the couple´s nuptials in March 1970 - who´d upped the showbiz stakes; Angela who was pressing Bowie to don every more extreme costumes and make-up;  Angela who was encouraging him to draw on his experiences as a member,  in the sixties,  of Lindsay Kemp´s notorious Underground Mime Troupe.  It was Angie Bowie who established a kind of pop salon in the couple´s home,  Haddon Hall in Beckenham,  and dragged her husband along to a gay Kensington discotheque called the Sombrero Club. ´ I would say Angela is just a responsable for creating glam rock as David´  says Tony Visconti.  ´ Angie made David realize how outrageous  he could be - he certainly wouldn´t have done it without her permission. Angela and my girlfriend,  Liz,  were the seamstresses,  the designers  of these clothes we wore at the Round house.  And that night is probably when glam rock was born. BARNEY HOSKYNS - GLAM !
