Kaoru took off his glasses and placed it gently on the table. He closed the book and looked toward his left. Die was playing guitar, with Shinya listening and explaining what he wanted the red head to do. Shinya would stop him now and then, and Die would pout but Kaoru knew they were really trying to get it done. The door opened and Kaoru took a look. Kyo walked in with walkman in his right hand and papers in his left one.

Kyo saw Kaoru, smirk, then went to sit beside the guitarist

“How’s it goin?”

“Fine…my voice is a little off today, darn…” Kyo coughed a little and shook his head. At this point Die turned and called out, “Kyo, you okay?”

Shinya looked at Kyo, saying nothing

Kyo gave a nod

“Kyo, who’s doing the remix?” Kaoru suddenly asked.

“Toshiya”

“Oh”

…

Kyo studied Kaoru’s face for a long while before turning to Die and Shinya, “He’s got the things prepared. Toshiya’s gonna hand out those extra sounds that we’re supposed to record…” he looked at his watch, “Should be here anytime soon….” He muttered and the door opened again with a tall figure walking in. Toshiya sighed and scratched his head, “Hey…I hope Kyo’s told you about-”

“He did” Kaoru cut in

Toshiya gave him a sharp look and then smiled warmly at Kyo, “Thank you Kyo-ko”

Die snickered

“Shut up Die” Kyo rolled his eyes.

Shinya lift up his hand to cover his smile, the way he usually did it.

Toshiya chuckled and placed few files on the table. “Score sheets… for you, Kyo. I don’t think you need this. But I wanna do some changes at the end of the song” he started passing it around, to Die and Kaoru. Die smiled; reading his scores while Shinya joined his eyebrows. Noticing this, Toshiya turned away and muttered, “I don’t need drums…everything is tech”

Shinya shrugged

Kaoru flipped his scores and looked up at the standing Toshiya, “There is not much changes, this is just a basic tune from the original version”

“Yeah”

“What’s this HUGE gap sign thing….here?” Die raised the paper and pointed it up. Toshiya squinted his eyes, had a look and then smirk

“You’ll know later…”

Kyo raised an eyebrow

“Oo…kay….”

Toshiya bapped Kyo’s head with his own file, “Hey! Be nice to me…anyway, I’ve gotta run, appointments! Be ready and we’re gonna start recording in three days. Ja!” he ran out as fast as he entered.

Kaoru placed the file on the table and looked at Kyo

“What? I’m allowed to choose anyone I want right? That’s the deal!”

Kaoru nodded, got up and walked out the room, saying nothing but he obviously did not look very pleased. Kyo looked at Die, who shrugged and turned to Shinya. “Shin….” To his surprise, the drummer got up and walked out the room. Die was left dumb founded, his lips still parted. After a while he turned to Kyo, who shrugged and smirk

“Kaoru!” Shinya ran a little trying to catch up. The guitarist turned his head around and stopped walking.

“Yeah?”

“Hey…are….are you okay?” Shinya studied his face. Kaoru smiled a little, “Yeah. Why? Do I look –not- okay?” he asked back with an amused look on his face. Shinya blushed and turned away, “You don’t look …well, nevermind then” he bit his lip and looked at the older man uncertainly. Kaoru chuckled and draped his arm around Shinya, “I’m fine…just a little worried, that’s all”

“About what?”

Kaoru took a while to respond, “Toshiya. It’s a special song for me…I don’t know” he shrugged

“Kaoru, talk to him”

“There’s nothing to talk about”

“Kaoru kun!”

Kaoru smiled and walked away, leaving the drummer alone standing confusedly in the quiet corridor
