Jubei Kibagami

Our main hero of the story, Jubei is a masterless swordsman. His skills with the sword are remarkable. Jubei gets offered various missions by different clans. On missions money isn't an object to Jubei if the reason is good enough. He is poisoned by Dakuwan just so he would fight the Eight Devils of Kimone to get the antidote. Jubei is a good natured person who likes to throw a wise crack every now and then. Once Jubei is committed to something there is no stopping him.
