Marian  is survived by her only daughter Hannah and she did not have anything set aside as this passing was an unexpected one.  We are setting up a fund for Hannah in which all proceeds will be given to her.  Your donations are greatly appreciated and if you do not have a credit card, you may email me with the subject line, "donation" and I will in return, provide you with an address where you may send it in.    Marian struggled through life and although she didn't have much, she sure gave a lot. 

Marian was born Marian Jennifer Holloway on August 13th, 1968.  That was Friday the 13th.  Her parents are Justus Jennifer Holloway and Rex Marion Holloway.  Marian has only one full sister, Lolly Karen Holloway.

Marian was definitely old school.  Growing up, she had a determination for independence and if it meant packing up and leaving ideas as she did not agree with, so be it.  In her youth, at about 15, she took off to the big city of San Francisco.  At that time she was in a movie called "Sado Babies"  which was like the Scared Straight of squatters...it was used as a documentary for kids NOT to be on the street and about stories behind the runaways in San Francisco.  You see, at that time, it wasn't trendy to be a squatter punk like what we have today.

I think if Hot Topic could figure out how to market the squatter look, they'd do it.  Back then, the kids were runaways with real problems that gathered together in the streets with all something in common and because they had nowhere to go but to stick together.  Now, the glamorization and the illusion of squatting has then been kind of like a fairy tale for kids that don't have problems, but want to live that life temporarily.  If those of you are familiar with the term " postcard punk "  then you will know that Marian was one of them.

There are some pictures in the photo gallery for those of you who want to check it out.  These postcards in the 80's were of colorful punk rockers squatting in the streets of San Francisco.  Marian was the original postcard punk, with her and her friends showing kids that they could be independent at a very young age.  For all of the postcards in distribution, she was only paid  20 dollars and a hot meal.

Being so young, around 15 years old, she made a choice to make another change.  Her grandparents in the small town of Modesto soon took her in...as she must have been the strangest thing to hit that rural town.  With her wild green hair, it wasn't long after did she get the nickname, " swamp girl " .  She loved her grandfather with his purple converse sneakers very much.  Being there, it seemed like it gave her a second chance for a family environment...because remember, at that time, she had already been on the streets and had an idea of what the world was really like at a very young age.

One of her first bands was " 5 Fingers"  and soon after was " Virgin Mary Diaries" .  A swooning dark punk sound that was almost too heavy for the small town of Modesto...bringing big city impressions into a small town.  She was a true activist and she always was in support for animal rights.  She helped everyone out...animals, runaways...even though she did not have a lot, she did not have any problems giving what someone needed.

One time, she performed in the small town in Modesto.  Take it, this is a rural town in the mid 80's and there she was...bald....wearing a wedding dress and in chains doing a lip sync to the latest 80's hit.

Marian was about 18 when she dated and supposedly married Rob Proctor who was her first true love.  He made money selling LSD at the time.  He later went on to write a book called " Tears for Trina" , which was published and actually included Marian as she was an influence to him writing the book.

That relationship did not last very long at all...but she was on the search to fill her life.  Around 19 years old, she met and married her second love Kal.  With that relationship, came the most important love of her life.  Her daughter, Hannah Lolly Anderson.  This was Marian's joy and happiness.  As Kal and Marian's relationship dwindled, the love for her daughter grew because Hannah gave her love in the purest form.

Kal eventually went into the army and their relationship was nearing to it's end.  Marian was alone and she knew honestly that she would not be able to take care of her daughter.  The hardest decision that Marian would have to had made was the right decision for her.  Against everyone's demands, she put Hannah up for adoption.  For a mother to give up her child for a better place has to be one of the most difficult yet beautiful things anyone could have done.

Marian was always known as being a musical icon.  Her voice in other bands gained the attention of Daniel who would eventually put together a band called The Insaints.  But her wild antics and colored hair was too big for the small town.  The Insaints would once again form in Oakland, CA and it was not too long until they made a name for themselves.  The live show was unique in the fact that there was this beautiful Amazon woman screaming her heart out and everyone knows that she was not a person to be reckoned with.  It wasn't so much the music that affected people but it was the live act.  At one infamous show at Gilman street, the live show was too much for an audience member, Carlo Cardon...ironically a former member of The Dead Kennedy's, who left the club to call the police.  He said, " I was totally shocked at what was going on...I like punk music, but since I regained my faith in Jesus, I don't agree with some of the punk ethics.  I went to see music, not a kinky lesbian sex show." 

With that, The Insaints became legends in their own right and they would soon go on to play in the old days with the likes of Rancid, Green Day, Naked Aggression and GG Allen's last show.

Marian dated the owner of Maximum Rock n Roll, Tim Yohanen for 4 years and up until his death.  Marian cared for Tim who had cancer and as he became more ill and bedridden, he would not allow anyone to see him except for 2 people...one being Marian.  She would tell me time and time again that she was so honored that he allowed her to take care of him.  She would tell me in graphic detail some of the daily tasks she would have to do...and for those that are unfamiliar with care taking of terminal patients, that load was pretty heavy.  Toward the end of his life, the care taking became more demanding and as Tim began to waste away, Marian still saw him as a beautiful person.

Marian eventually began to see things in a different life.  She did not want to do those wild shows anymore.  She wanted to be known for her voice...not some carnal stage show.  The Insaints soon dwindled, with the migration of people moving from San Francisco to Los Angeles due to rising costs.  Daniel moved to LA to being a fresh start.

Marian would visit Daniel frequently and during her visits, she would eventually meet her current love, Danielle.  Danielle and Marian would always be said in the same sentence.  With the help of Danielle, Marian made the move to LA...moving into Charlie Chaplin's old movie star bungalows with her little dogs Trixie and Lola.

In the last days, Marian was in good spirits and had goals...and one of the main points is that she finally got the project she had with Daniel called, The Thrill Killers.  Their 1st and last gig was at Rumors in North Hollywood, CA on October 19th, 2001.

Marian was tough with assholes and gentle with people in need.  Marian was known amongst the guys as a girl not to fuck with...as Rick about that sometime.
