The Rugen Government

The Rugen Republic is a Democratic Government that serves and protects its people. Below are a list of links that will help you learn more about us and what we are about.

How our Government works

The Rugen works on a democratic representation system where the people vote for representatives from their distinct States. There are two states in the Rugen so far, the Norden and the Sudate. The newest of the two is the Sudate, which joined the Rugen in May of 1999. The people of both states vote for representatives for their area. The rep the people vote for is for the Rugenstag or Rugen Assembly. The Rugenstag members are elected to six month terms and there are six for every state. The President of the Rugen is voted by the people of both states, the President is elected to a half year term of service. He makes his own Council and appoints his own ministers to advise him and make policy for the nation for his term. There are no term limits for any voted rep or President.

Politics

There was only one official political party in the Rugen from May 1999 to August 1999, but in the middle of August a change of events happend and the ammendment of the VI article of the constitution was added killing the old law of a one party system. Rugenstag  Speaker Sarah Jane drafted the document and passed it through the Rugenstag in an emergeny meeting. There are now two different political parties, they are: FN, Front National (Old Nationalist Conservative Party) CCU, Conservative Christain Union (Christian Republicans)
