	Orienteering Exercise and Community Service On the morning of 27th October 2007, Secondary 3 NPCC cadets of Juying Secondary School had their Orienteering Exercise on Pulau Ubin. For the exercise, the cadets were given bearings to various checkpoints and expected to move from point to point. This required the cadets to employ orienteering skills on map reading and ability to use the compass correctly. During the exercise, there was much camaraderie displayed within the different groups as they raced against time to complete all the checkpoints within the given time limit. After a sumptuous lunch at Changi Village Hawker Centre, the second part of the day's programme took place. The Secondary Three cadets were joined by their Secondary One and Two juniors for a Community Service Activity -- Beach Cleaning @ Changi Beach. At the start of the activity, the cadets were taught to distinguish between different kinds of rubbish and to separate recyclable items from non-recyclable ones. Throughout the activity, there was much learning taking place as the cadets realised the importance of proper rubbish disposal and the environmental and aesthetic impact that careless acts of waste disposal have on the beach At the end of the day, the cadets had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and went home with new lessons learnt, and to top it all, a healthy tan and a glowing complexion.
