He is very strong with the Force, as is his twin sister, Jaina. Jacen has the special ability to communicate with animals. When he and his sister turn 14, they attend Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. While there, Jacen develops an extensive collection of the jungle moon's exotic fauna, many of which escape the cages built for them by Jacen's sister, Jaina. When he finally constructed his own lightsaber, Jacen chose focusing stones which produced a glowing, emerald green blade. When she and Jacen attend Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, at the age of 14, she collects all sorts of old technology from the original Alliance base, using some of it to create cages for Jacen's exotic collection of creatures. Others she keeps to see if she can repair them. Jaina created a lightsaber of violet light while studying at Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. Tenel showed great aptitude with the Force, and later attended Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, at the same time as Jacen and Jaina Solo. She was a reserved, distant companion to the twins, in keeping with the strength she learned on Dathomir. Luke Skywalker requested that the students at his praxeum built their own lightsabers, in preparation for battling the Shadow Academy. Tenel Ka felt that the weapon was no the important link, but the warrior was. She didn't focus all of her energies in her lightsaber, which she built from an old rancor tooth. In a practice duel with Jacen Solo, Tenel pushed herself and Jacen to their limits. Her lightsaber failed to maintain its energy beam, and Jacen's blade passed through it, severing Tenel Ka's right hand. The wound was instantly cauterized, and replacing the hand was impossible. She travelled back to Hapes to recover from the incident, secretly wondering about her own abilities. She found herselve in the midst of Ambassador Yfra's treacherous plans. The series of ensuing battles forced Tenel Ka to realize that, although the warrior is very important, how the warrior maintains their touch on the Force is most important. Her injury was of minimal importance if she truly mastered the Force. She returned to Yavin 4, and built a new lightsaber. She kept to her original design of using a rancor tooth, but worked with the Force to create a weapon superior to the original. It used a rainbow gem from Gallinore, and produced a turquoise-colored blade. Lowie, as his friends call him, is somewhat gifted with the Force, and is allowed to enroll in Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. He is a ginger-colored Wookiee, with a unique streak of black fur that runs around his chest and down his back. His anger was discovered by Tamith Kai when she had to kidnap him to get to the Solo twins. She continually goaded Lowie at the Shadow Academy, trying to lead him down the path to the Dark Side. Lowie was eventually captured, but was rescued before he could be turned to the Dark Side. Lowie returned to Yavin 4, and created his own lightsaber of molten bronze light. Later, he returned to Kashyyyk to attend his sister, Sirrakuk, in her rite of passage to adulthood. There, following an attack by the Shadow Academy, Lowie rescued Sirra as she battled the Nightsister Vonnda Ra in the depths of Kashyyk's jungle. He managed to save Sirra before a syren plant consumed her. He always wore outrageous clothing styled in his family's royal colors, none of which go with each other. A bristly-haired blond youth, Raynar disliked Jacen Solo, especially Jacen's collection of exotic creatures. Raynar was bitten a number of times by Jacen's crystal snake. When the Shadow Academy attacked Yavin 4, Raynar discovered that he wasn't as skilled as he believed himself to be. In a quick fight with Brakiss' Dark Jedi, Raynar ended up face-down in a riverbank and missed most of the fighting. Raynar's demeanor changes, and he decided that he must work for the prestige he wanted, rather than claim it was his. She learned of the Force from her grandmother, who instilled in Tionne the passion for ancient Jedi legends. This was unusual, for all knowledge of the Jedi was thought to have been eradicated from her homeworld. She had very little Force-sensitivity, but Luke Skywalker saw enough promise in her that he invited her to help discover the ancient Jedi teachings. She eventually became a full Jedi Knight, but her powers were somewhat limited. Nevertheless, she put her talents to good use, serving as a historian and administrator of the Yavin 4 praxeum. She eventually fell in love with Kam Solusar, and the two were married shortly before the Luke's wedding. Peckhum is the owner of the battered old supply ship, the Lightning Rod. He befriended the boy Zekk, whom he discovered after a supply run to the devastated world of Ennth. He and took him in and cared for him, and eventually made Zekk his apprentice. When Peckhum discovered Zekk's affinity for the Force, he allowed the boy to join the Jedi Academy, and continued to make his supply runs. The New Republic realized that Peckhum's services to the Academy were invaluable, and so they gave him a newer supply ship to replace the aging Lightning Rod. He, in turn, bequeatehd the old ship to Zekk, when the boy decided to strike out on his own. When Lowie was kidnapped by Tamith Kai, she had Em Teedee reprogrammed to spout Imperial doctrine whenever he talked with Lowie. The little droid was quickly repaired by Jaina Solo and Lowie upon his return to the Jedi Academy, and given the ability to communicate in six unique languages. As the other student on Yavin 4 learned more and more of the Wookiee language, M-TD's primary function became less important.
