It all started in a tiny classroom in an old building on Wittenberg's campus.
It was the first day of a new semester and the three of us took our seats in the front row of Dr. Alan McEvoy's Sociology of Deviance class.
It was business as usual when Dr. McEvoy arrived: attendace was taken, the syllabus was handed out, and comments were made about the general structure of the course.
After 10 minutes of attempting to pronounce names, Dr. McEvoy then began to give a brief introduction into the study of Deviance.
One of the first things he talked about was the general definition given to the study of Deviance when it was first introduced: "Deviance is labeled the study of nuts, sluts and perverts."
The three of us looked at each other and began to grin: we had been looking for a way to identify ourselves, and McEvoy had just given it to us!
After class, the trio exited the building, adjourning to the Commons to discuss the making of the NS&P League. |
