Sexology 200: Introduction to Sexual Studies 4 credit hours Introduction to the discipline & methodology of sexual study. Designed to refine skills in critical sexual positions, to build a proper vocabulary of the terms to use during sex, to raise central questions of sexual theory, to introduce a variety of critical approaches to pursuing an active sexual career, & to give familiarity with the materials & methods one uses during their sexual activity. Readings vary in different sections. Required of the Sexology major & minor. Only for those students who are serious about pursuing a sexual career. Book of focus is the Kama Sutra. Every year. Sexology 240: Beginning Creative Sexual Writing 4 credit hours Beginning course in sexual writing -- mainly for those students who enjoy having cyber sex. The rudiments & beyond. First-year students admitted by permission of the instructor only, based on printed conversations involving cyber sex. Only for those students who do not mind having their conversations broken down & analyzed for sexual content. Every year. Sexology 241: Beginning Phone Sex 4 credit hours Introduction to the concepts & concerns of the practicing phone sexualist, with primary emphasis on what to say during a sexual conversation & secondary emphasis on how dirty one should get. Students are required to pair up & practice phone sex at least once a week. Possible field trips to sex hotlines. Prerequisite: Sexology 101. Speaking intensive. Every year. Sexology 242: Writing & Peer-editing for Sexology 4 credit hours Practice in writing & editing a variety of sexual forms of communication, with focus on the art of cyber sex, discussion of the sexual writing process & reader response, & emphasis on style, rhetorical strategy, & revision. Emphasis will be on helping the practicing cyber sexualist make the most of his or her conversations to ensure maximum pleasure for themselves & their partners. This intermediate writing course, designed chiefly to prepare writing tutors, includes a practicum. By permission of instructor only. Prerequisite: Sexology 101 (or passed out of Sexology 101). Writing intensive. Every year. Sexology 280: British Sexual Survey I 4 credit hours Study of Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, Renaissance, Restoration, & early 18th-century British literature, emphasizing Beowulf, Chaucer, Spenser, Marlowe, Shakespeare, Milton, & Pope. Focus on how the British view sexual encounters as opposed to their American counter-parts. Every year. Sexology 290: American Sexual Survey I 4 credit hours Study of American sexual literature from the Colonial Period to the Civil War. May include Bradford, Taylor, Edwards, Franklin, Emerson, Thoreau, Whitman, Dickinson, Hawthorne, & Melville. Every year. |
