LEAGUE CHAMP LAYS SOME SMACKDOWN!!!
Patrick leads K Nation to 2nd dynasty title in 3 years
Jan. 1, 2006: Hey guys, thanks once again for helping make NYOFACE the best fantasy football league around! Congrats go to the Jollibees for winning the
Bush Bowl. Not a bad CONSOLATION prize eh? The most fearsome paper tigers in fantasy football just got a lot more... umm... well you guys
got way more to meow about, that's for sure!
As for me, unfortunately i've had the opposite draft luck. I'm now stuck with the lowly 12th pick in the first round, and my 3-TIME
CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING squad won't get as splashy a pick as the 'Bees. WOE IS ME!!! The hype on my team won't be nearly as high, and the
ratings for my 3-TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING SQUAD will be abysmal. Sad, just sad... At least next year my "mentor" (despite the fact
that he and i started playing fantasy sports at the same time) will get to see my lowly 3-TIME CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING SQUAD firsthand, as it
goes for its second set of back to back titles.
So 'Bees, even though you haven't been able to come through when it really matters, take heart in the fact that you'll always be the
champion of empty rhetoric in my book. And even though the whole reason we do the draft and try to improve our teams is to get one of
the nice, shiny NYOFACE championship trophies, you can always rest assured that your paper tigers will always be well fed. If you ever
want to see one of the trophies, you can always ask me and i'll let you look at one of my THREE that i have sitting on the mantle, ok?

2006 ROOKIE DRAFT
|
2005 TOP PICKS FROM NYOFACE FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROOKIE DRAFT
July 24 - With the top pick pretty much no-brainers, the Windy City Jollibees selected RB Reggie Bush with the top overall pick
on 4/14/06. The Ress Side Calibers happily picked early, taking QB Matt Leinart at #2 on 5/1/06. Meisterz Hoffmaniacz,
the first expansion team on the board, didn't think twice and selected QB Vince Young with the 3rd pick less than 2 hours
after the #2 pick. The second expansion team, San Francisco Samurais, chose the "best available" QB at #4 in Jay Cutler
the next day on 5/2. A couple hours later, the trader jack on NYOFACE Football, Vince called in Enteng Da Dragons' #5
selection, RB Laurence Maroney. Two months and 23 days later, the Red Zone Bulldozers finally face the deadline for its
6th overall pick, Midnight 7/25.
New owners should take note that the deadlines for the 1st and 2nd round picks at the 2006 College Draft
page are not set in stone and are dynamic. Once the owner before you makes his choice, you then have until midnight the
following day for your pick. So if the owner before you makes his pick at 12:01 AM, an owner will have 1 day 23 hours and 59
minutes max.
The top overall pick was due on 7/24. With the first 5 picks having been made early in the offseason, the 6th pick is then due
by Midnight (inclusive) Tuesday 7/25.

FRANCHISE & TRANSITION PLAYERS
|
2006 TOP PICKS FROM NYOFACE FOOTBALL LEAGUE ROOKIE DRAFT
July 24 - Please go to ../freeagents.html to view all players tagged as Franchise or Transition players. I've listed the players that can be resigned at a 25% raise (due 8/19) and the potential FAs in 2007 and 2008 to give you a better picture of who may or may not be available and at what price.
I've changed the Deadline for tagged Franchise/Transition players. The players will be auctioned off via single blind bids due by 8 PM nightly starting tomorrow. Franchise Players will go first since they cost TWO first round picks to sign away, then Transition Players. The order was determined by Franchise/Transition salary. Since RBs have the highest Franchise/Transition salary, RB Brian Westbrook will go first.
To make sure we're all on the same page, here's how it'll work for signing away a Franchise/Transition player:
- Deadline for Westbrook is listed at 7/11. [Again, please note bids are due by 8 PM]. Brad signed him at the RB Franchise salary of $27.40 for 3 years.
- Owners can submit a single bid greater than $27.40 for Westbrook to the league office (yahoo group). The highest submitted bid by 8 PM [inclusive] wins the bidding for Westbrook. The offer also needs to match the number of CYs (Contract Years) in the contract. Let's say it was Melvin and the Bulldozers who turned in the highest bid for Westbrook - $28.60 for 3 years (a little less than what the Thundering Herd signed RB Rudi Johnson in '05 Auction Draft).
- The current owner, in this case, Brad has 1 hour until 9 PM to decide whether or not to match the Dark Heels' offer sheet.
- If Brad decides to match Melvin's offer, Westbrook then gets bumped to $28.60 x 3 years for the Wonders.
- If Brad decides NOT to match Melvin's offer, Westbrook joins the Dark Heels at $28.60 for 3 years. ALSO, Melvin and the Bulldozers will need to compensate Brad and the Wonders with TWO first round picks.
- Since Melvin has two first round picks in the 2006 College Draft, Brad can opt to take those 2 picks; or Brad can choose to take the one first round pick this year and one first round pick next year (hoping Melvin falls to the bottom 4 and a higher pick).
- The next player then is up for bid with the deadline at 8 PM the very next day.
- Again, teams need to have the required first round picks to submit a bid. It takes TWO 1st round picks for a Franchise Player and ONE 1st round pick for a Transition Player.
- If a team has already made a selection this year (this counts as an exception of course), i.e. Edgar already selected RB Reggie Bush with the 1st pick, the selected player will count as a 1st pick that he is. So if Edgar, for some funky reason, decides to sign away Westbrook, Edgar will have to send Reggie Bush and his 2007 1st round pick to Brad and the Wonders. Good deal huh Brad?

|
