The New Zealand College of Optometrists Inc.(NZCO) is a learned society incorporated in October, 1994. Founded by a group of optometrists in Auckland, this New Zealand-wide society has the aim of promoting and improving the practice of Optometry to the highest standard of professional competence and conduct as does the American Academy of Optometry (USA) and the College of Optometrists (UK).

NZCO MISSION STATEMENT

• To encourage and facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experience among all members of The College.
• To foster the professional growth and development of newly-graduated optometrists and to support and mentor them in their early professional years.
• To sustain an open and constructive rapport with the Department of Optometry and Vision Science, The University of Auckland, and its students.
• To promote and support the advancement of the science of optometry.

The NZCO is NOT the registering body for optometrists in New Zealand All enquiries regarding registration should be directed to NZ Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board
