Freestyle is like dancing with your dogs but your dogs are dancing too! Here are some moves you can teach your dog. Circle: dog Moves in a clockwise postion around handler as they move counterclockwise Whee: Dog moves in a counterclock position around handler as they move clockwise. Twist: Dog moves in a clockwise postion while in heel position on either side. Rick: Dog moves in a counterclockwise position while in heel position on either side of handler. Weaving thorugh legs or under: Dog moves through handler's legs while walking or stationary. Dog can also circle around just one leg. High: Dog up on back legs either by itself or with legs draped over the handler's arm. Can move in circlesor go forward or backward. Curtsy or bow: Used usually at end of routine for both handler and dog. Heeling: Dogs can move forward, backward, or from side to side while on either side of handler. Dogs can also be in front of handlergoing backwards, side to side or behind handler. Walk: Dog in between your legs walking with you. Heelwork: If you choose to do heelwork to music, the rules are; no jumps, weaves, send outs, distance spins, or pivots. All moves should be in some form of heel position. Steps so be in time with the music, dance steps preferred, but walking steps are acceptable. Props are allowed but must be part of the routine. Disqualifications are; fouling in ring, leaving ring (if off leash), training aides in ring, music too short or too long, unacceptable distance work or moves. Musical Freestyle: If you choose to do musical freestyle, the rules are; any moves allowed as long as dog or handler are not in danger. Handler must use dance steps in time to the music. Moves may be preformed in any position. Props are allowed but must be part of the routine. Disqualifications are; fouling in ring, leaving ring (if off leash), training aides in ring, music too short or too long. |
