OAW DESCRIPTION
Outdoor Adventures for Women is a group that publicizes a multitude of activities planned by women of the south bay (San Jose, CA and surrounding cities), that are usually, but not always, outdoors. OAW was started in October of 1983. The first event was a hike at Castle Rock State Park. Every year there is an anniversary hike at Castle Rock State Park. Membership is limited to women, 18 and older. Most but not all members are gay or bisexual.
Our activities vary. The most common activities are day hikes and bicycle rides. Some other activities are camping trips, sea kayaking day trips, ski trips, barbecues, parties, bowling and brunch, etc. Anyone can lead an event (novices will get help from the old pros), and we are always looking for new places to go and for new things to do.

1. Are kids allowed on events?
Children under18 accompanied by an OAW member are allowed on the events at the discretion of the event leader. This will usually be noted in the event descriptions.2. Are dogs allowed on events?
Dogs are not allowed unless the leader indicates in the event description that dogs are welcome.3. How old are the OAW members and are they mostly single or in a couple?
The membership changes as time passes so there is no permanent answer to this question. The best way to find out the answer to this question is to just show up for several events and find out for yourself.
