Robots
Descent also raised the bar in terms of robot AI, or artificial intelligence. The AI in Descent allowed the robots to have different personalities. On higher difficulty levels, these personalities become even more apparent. The Medium Lifter was wildly aggressive and attacked in packs. The Medium Hulk liked to shoot from the shadows. And, of course, the Red Hulk was just plain evil. The bots themselves were very well-done in terms of shape--nothing bizzare, just the basic mining robot design. It worked very well as a system.
And of course no page about Descent 1 robots would be complete without pictures and descriptions of the robots themselves. I now have the pictures on this page, as you can see, and will be working on the text over the next couple of weeks. The pictures are to scale realative to one another. Stay tuned.
ADVANCED LIFTER-- The Advanced Lifter first shows up on level 8. He's very sneaky, and he prefers to attack you from the shadows. He has medium armor and poses a moderate threat.
