Descent was the first 360 3D shooter where you could go anywhere--up, down, side to side, you name it. Your ship, a Pyro GX, was capable of high-speed flight or complete stasis. It was designed to work in the levels, which were huge, multi-tiered environments with immaculate attention to detail (anyone who's ever used the Descent Mission Builder or DEVIL knows how long it takes to get the textures right). The graphics were advanced for its time, and put all of its competitors to shame. Its graphics are still considered to be pretty good. |
