Descent: First Strike

Screenshots

All of the pics on this page were taken from in the game by me.

It was a very bad day.  I had just inserted into this mine when all of these things start swarming over me.  Fortunately, I had a whole lot of my secondary of choice.  Note the 'kwad' lasers.  Yahoma and Descent Studio 3 both enable you to change the file for things like that.  I highly recommend them.  To download them, click here.

Much better.

This is what the insertion point looks like for one of my levels.  The floating grey triangles in the middle of the room are cloaked Class One Drillers.  I have no clue why they are oblivious to my presence.

Note the multicolored Mega Missile.  DTX, another great utility, allows you to change the images and sounds in the game.  The Vulcan Cannon sound is now the sound for the 70mm gatling gun from Shattered Steel, for instance.  The missile impact has been changed to a nuclear bomb going off.  And, of course, you see the missile's changes.  To get DTX, use the link above.

Another victim of editing with DTX, the Concussion Missiles are much more brighty colored.  I call them the 'Rainbow Warriors'.

Take a guess what happened to the Homing Missiles.

Ever wondered what was behind the heavy blast door at the beginninng of all of the registered Descent levels?  I do.  To find out, we type in 'astral' and go in.

Thats it.  Not a lot there, is it?

This is my favorite screenshot in the game.  This is the briefing screen for all of the Jupiter mines.  It's just cool.

How'd that get in here? Oh well...  maybe it'll add sex appeal to this otherwise boing website.

Pics of battles coming soon.  Stay tuned.
