Mission Objecttives Pursuant to Darkforce Exploration Directives 823.9, 834.9, Darkforce Defense Directives 268.4, 252.2, 308.9, Empire Security Council General Policy, the following objectives have been established for an Interstellar- Class Starship: 1. Provide a mulit-mission mobile platform for a wide range of scientific and explorative research projects. 2. Replace Flux Class Starships as the primary instrument of Empier deep-space defense. 3. To design the first Darkforce Starship to ues Saucer Seperation. 4. Provide autonomous capability for full execution of Empier defensive, cultural, scientific, and explorative policy in deep space or border territory. 5. Serve as a frontline support vehile during times of war and emergencies. 6. Provide a mobile platform for testing and inplmenation of mission-specific, or new technology of any kind. |

General Overview The Interstellar Project was one of three main forays into the field of new defensive technologies initially intended for use against the Romulan Empires' total destruction. The prototype, U.S.S. Interstellar (NX-83000) was still in the designing phase during an invasion of five Borg-cubes entered the Ko system, and were destroyed, the prototype began its actual space-trials in 2370 Initial production of the Interstellar class began at the ASDB Integration Facility, Ultimate Design, Ko35, with final compartmentalization at the Darkforce Fleet Yards, ko39, where it continues to this day. Long-term production plans are estimated to include both the Cyane Fleet Yards, Cyane and the New Hope Fleet Yard, Sector 411, but as of yet, are not included in the Interstellar production plans. Heavily armed, the design for the Interstellar class was shaped by the growing threat of Romulan expansion into the Beta Quadrant. The Interstellar Project attempted to push the envelope as far as possible when it came to computer power, shielding, armament and systems capabilities. The Interstellar Class vessel combines the creature comforts associated with the larger Flux-class vessels with the tactical power of the new Wing- Class. The Interstellar Class vessel is armed with twelve powerful type- XII phaser emitters, and four type- XII polaron phaser emitters. The type- XII phaser arrays are the most powerful phaser systems to be installed aboard a Federation Starship to date, capable of delivery crippling blows to enemy shields and armor. Along with two forward polaron torpedo launchers, located on the upper side of the saucer section. And three forward, and one aft rapid-fire Photon/Quantum/Long-range torpedo launcher systems, one locate located on lower part of saucer section, and two located on the Stardrive below the main deflector dish. And one located aft on the Stardrive. The newest cutting edge technology that was to be installed into the Interstellar class was two forward and one aft pulse phaser cannons, fitted above the Main Deflector Dish. Allowing the ship to unleash a barrage of firepower at any opponents it faces. Thus allowing her to defend the Empire with great ease. |

Construction History Project Interstellar was born out of sheer necessity and the reality of impending Romulan or Borg invasions. As the reports, and intelligence gathered by several spies within both The Federation of Planets, and Romulan Star Empire on the Borg came useful. The Empire Defense Council came to the humbling conclusion that its dark fleet needed a Starship that was a great match, if not more over-welling than a Romulan Warbird or a Borg- Cube Many Dark Force engineers came to regard the requirement as too challenging; the project suffered from numerous delays due to a wide range of design, manufacturing, and construction problems. The Darkforce decided to tackle the problem behind closed doors. Several projects were born or modified due to the threat of an impending Romulan or Borg attack Project's Crystal and Escort were revamped in large part due to the Romulan/Borg threats a long with a possible Dominion attack, along with the birth of the now infamous Wing and Shadow Projects. Muli- Flux Shielding System The concept behind Muli-Flux Shielding was not only have one shield during battle but five, and not only to constantly shift the rotation and frequency of the shielding while engaged in battle, but also to completely re-initialize the shield grid, by using five shield the "Muli" part; that faze in and out of one another, and constantly shift around the ship thus not allowing a damaged part of the shield be in the same place twice thus the "flux" part. When one particular shield is below acceptable levels; the shield lowers its self, to only be re-strengthening by using a redundant system of shield generators. This is were Drakforce engineers had there fun, while in battle the shield would be getting re-strengthened while the other shields spread out to confentsate for the gap in the shield grid. Another place in which the Darkforce engineers had fun with this new shielding system was they created this prototype defenseve shield grid to be adapted, or equipped with new technologies to better strengthen the shielding system or allow other shielding devices to be added thus making a totally different kind of shield. For say Muli-flux shielding was to go off-line; Stealth Shielding or the Trinidad Polar System would still be operable. Nano- Neural Gel Pack Computer System The Interstellar project brought a new generation, and a great advancement in the field of computer technology the computer system, created by Com Technologies. With the introduction of a new computer system called Nano- Neural Gel pack, created based a- pone Starfleet's Bio-Neural Gel Pack computer systems. Darkforce engineers used Starfleet's idea but took it to a higher level. Have analyzed Borg Nano Probe technology for almost three years now, and after duplicating Nano technology. Darkforce engineers thus creating many different kinds of technologies from the use of Advanced Nano Probes created at Star Labs, Cyane Advanced technologies Center. When they created the Nano- Neural Gel Pack computer system they found that the newer system worked almost four times faster then the original Bio-Neural computer system. Giving much more computer response time, and made ships systems and weapons systems faster and more reliable. Warp drive/Slipstream History Initial testing of the Warp Drive proved extremely disappointing, with power loads far exceeding the core's rating, the U.S.S. Interstellar achieved a maximum attainable speed of Warp 6, with a cruising speed of only Warp 4. Design Engineers, along with CE Warp Core Specialists determined that the primary culprit was the new primary Deflector Array, in causing the massive power losses during alert situations. Further, unforeseen flaws in the interaction between the Muli-flux Shield System and the new Navigational Deflector Array and its Gravimetric Generators produced unstable phase variations that placed the entire vessel at risk from micro-meteor collisions. The U.S.S. Interstellar returned to Ultimate Design Fleet Yards without having reaching Ko35 under warp power. So Cyane Electric put aside the Class 10 warp core and reported, The Class 10 warp cores power- out put lacked the high- end power to meet the demand of the tremendous power required of project Interstellar, there for I've order a new Core to be assembled from the ground up, in hopes that this Class 11 warp core will meet the power demand. While the Interstellar- Class vessel was awaiting its new warp core, Cyane Electrics' engineers went back to work noting the severe loss of power thanks to the system power requirements of the Interstellar class, CE Propulsion designed an entirely new M/ARA chamber for the Interstellar class. As the Class 11 was based on existing designs, notably those used in the Flux class, CE scrapped the design and built one from the ground up. After the chamber was completed CE ran several computer simulations in a holo-deck program to test the power- out put of the Class 11 warp core, and found in numerous simulations the core lacked the high- end power to meet the demands of the tremendous power requirements of project Interstellar. So the team had failed one more and the new core was pushed a side, to later be used for the Raptor Class vessel. Running short on time CE engineers went back to the drawing board, this time they suggested the use of a Slipstream core, looking back at most resent advancements and installments of Slipstream Cores on the other smaller starships the Empire. So CE engineers went to work on building two conjoined Slipstream core chambers and one single Core cambers that were easy to maintain but highly reliable, so after months of work the Class 2 Slipstream cores were completed, and installed on board the U.S.S. Interstellar (NX-83000), as well one core on board the Saucer Section. After the initialization of the Cores activation all ships systems and power readings were as what the CE engineers had hoped for if not more than they worked for, when the ship activated its drive, and had meet its requirements, Darkforce Command ordered the construction of four others Interstellar- Class vessels to be constructed (U.S.S. Odyessey (NX-83271) and U.S.S. Arizona (NX-83342), the other two have no names at this time. There are currently a limited number of Interstellar- Class vessels in service, with more in production at a select few fleet yards |
