Odyssey Group Workshop, July 2003

The Odyssey Group Workshop 2003 takes the form of participation in an online symposium on Ageing. The event will be held alongside the 18th UK-Japan High Technology Industry Forum, organised by the Asia Pacific Technology Network. The Forum will have a particular focus on developments and applications of high technology in relation to ageing. The on-line symposium, held in collaboration with Moor Park Community Centre, North East Action on Transport, and the Management Research Centre at London Metropolitan University, will focus on the articulation of voices from within the community on matters relating to ageing.

Aim of workshop:

This workshop was designed to:
  • enable those whose access to full social and community participation is affected by age-related factors to express their views and experiences through the technology of the internet;
  • explore the affordances of the new information and communication technology in promoting the contribution of community-based voicing on policy matters.

On-line Symposium on Ageing

The main site for co-ordination of the symposium. The timetable provides an outline of activities planned, including information about the Lyceum on-line conferencing software package developed by the Open University and trialed as a research support tool by the Odyssey Group for the workshop held in 2000.
