Captain Sherman’s Company was mustered out of service on August 20, 1832 by Lieutenant William W. Woodbridge, Adjutant and Inspector of the Iowa County Militia.
Remarks:
1. Lieutenant Force was killed by a Winnebago war party on June 20, 1832 about a mile from Mound Fort, along with Private Green (see Note 3.)
2. Private Aubry [actually "Aubrey"] was ambushed and killed by a party of Winnebago on June 6, 1832 near Ebenezer Brigham's residence, about one mile from Mound Fort.
3. Private Green was surrounded and killed by a Winnebago war party on June 20, 1832 within the sight of the occupants of Mound Fort (see Note 1.)
4. Private John Messersmith was a veteran of the Battle of Pecatonica. In mid-June 1832 he accompanied Colonel Henry Dodge from Mound Fort to Fort Hamilton at "Hamilton's Diggings," and on to the Pecatonica River.
