If you feel a little
lonely....
Get a dog!
You will find that
it's much better
than a lizard on a
log;
Its easier to handle
than a common garden
frog,
And you'll find it's
much more friendly,
Than a common alley
mog.
If you want a little
company....
Get a bird!
You will find that
it's much better
if it sometimes says
a word;
If it sings a pretty
song
you'll want a second
or a third,
And you'll love it
all the more,
Every time it's song
is heard.
If you're into relaxation....
Get a fish!
You can just sit back
and watch it
for as long as you
would wish;
But put it in a fish
tank
it won't live long
in a dish,
And you can't give
it a hug,
Or you'll find it
will go squish.
If you have an empty
paddock....
Get a horse!
One that you can ride
on
round the local park
of course;
Or ride it through
the bush
through the spinifex
and gorse,
You will feel though,
when you're off it,
Like a pie without
the sauce.
If you like things
really compact....
Get a mouse!
You might even find
them roaming
in the night time
round the house;
But if you really
get one
then you must not
be a louse,
Just make very sure
you hide it,
From your ever loving
spouse
If you like 'em somewhat
bigger....
Get a rat!
But do not get a wild
one
it might eat the family
cat;
And you must carefully
watch it's diet
don't let it get too
fat,
For if unwittingly
you step on it,
You will really squash
it flat.
If you want something
fluffy....
Get a bunny!
You will find it most
appealing,
cute and cuddly and
quite funny;
Quite cheap for you
to buy
if you haven't got
much money,
And you'll find that
it's quite friendly,
With a disposition
sunny.
If you want to kill
your wildlife....
Get a cat!
But make sure it doesn't
lurk outside
be very sure of that;
Sometimes you will
find that
it will come round
for a pat,
And if it kills a
bird,
It will leave it on
your mat.
If you like things
quite creepy....
Get a snake!
Make sure that it's
not venemous,
has no tail rattles
to shake;
And keep it in a tank,
the best that you
can make,
Feed it mice and frogs,
Not biscuits, tea
or cake.
So if you feel the
need quite strongly,
Get a pet!
But be careful what
you pick on,
please consult your
local vet;
For no matter what
you choose,
no matter what you
get,
It will arguably be
The best pet you've
had yet.
