Of all the very many
things,
That damage our fair
land;
Pollution is the worst
of them,
It's time we made
a stand.
A drive out through
the countryside,
Once a pleasure taken,
Now shows us many
lovely places,
Which, sadly, are
forsaken.
And many of these nasty
things,
That mar our land
so fair,
Are products of our
progress,
Advances we all share.
Where 'dead marines'
once lined the roads
Where someone had
a drink;
We now find empty
metal cans,
Unsightly, don't you
think?
Perhaps we could recycle
them,
If they were all collected;
But who would take
the trouble if
No rewards were detected.
I know, when just a
little chap,
When going on a trip;
To stop and collect
the empty bottles
To sell was thought
quite hip.
And what about those
plastic bags,
They give you when
you shop?
I say go back to paper
ones,
This business has
got to stop.
Consider too the creeks
and rivers,
The harbours and the
bays;
To fill them up with
junk and stuff,
Shows we must mend
our ways.
We surely all must
be aware,
Of Mother Nature's
plight;
So come on all, improve
your act,
And let us get things
right.
Don't dump your rubbish
anywhere,
You already pay a
due,
For garbage disposal
services,
And you should use
them too.
The beauty which we
now destroy,
By dumping waste and
litter;
Will leave, too soon,
in all our mouths,
A taste that's all
so bitter.
It's not just children
we must teach,
To keep our environment
clean;
But all we adults
too must learn,
To tidy up.....be
clean.
