Something woke me up
last night,
and I quickly found
out why;
The Gods were having
a lovely time,
Throwing thunderbolts
across the sky.
I could hear the thunder
rolling from
the west across the
sky;
It seemed to roll
around and round
and made me wonder
why.
The dogs all around
were barking,
The thunder hurts
their ears;
And the violent bursts
of lightning
Seem to add to all
their fears.
I’d like to take them
all inside,
To offer them protection;
As I feel that those
who own them,
Don’t harbour that
much affection..
The brilliant lightning
flashes turned
the night to brightest
day;
If for only just a
split second,
Before they faded
away.
And I know of one poor
lady who
really loses her head;
For when the thunder
starts to roll,
She rolls under her
bed.
The night outside was
very still,
No breeze to stir
the air;
We got hardly any
rain at all,
Just noise and light
were there.
But Mother Nature has
a reason for
Each part of her master
plan;
But I can’t work out
why we had that storm,
And I doubt if anyone
can.
